It's all in the timing | Virginia Wedding Photographer | Sarah Houston Photography

I want to give my brides the most out of their experience with me. So when asked about a timeline I really like to give brides a clear understanding of a typical wedding day! After all it's their FIRST time doing this and it's my umpteenth time! So first things first take into consideration your preparation time. You really want to capture those moments as hectic as they are you can look back and remember getting your hair and make-up done as well as all your gals helping you get ready to become "Mrs". This usually takes 1-2 hours and during this time I'll take the detail shots-your dress, shoes,jewlery,bouquet...etc. Next comes the pictures of you + your girls! This takes 30-45min. Ceremony, this can be 30min-2hours....yes 2hours. This is just a sampling of the timeline I offer my brides for insight, the main thing that needs to be told are these two things:

Think about the season-Fall/Winter weddings the sun sets pretty earlier so you need to schedule your ceremony earlier to get in all those awesome portraits before the sun goes down!

Lastly-DON'T fret over reception coverage, typically 2-3hours should be dedicated to this. Cover the first dance, the dances with dad + mom, the toasts & cake cutting. You really don't need 100's of photos of people dancing {sometimes a little tipsy} if you plan an exit those are always nice if done before midnight or before all your guests cut out for the night, especially if you choose a sparkler exit-the more people-the more spectacular that exit will look.

Deligate your time with me to the most important aspects of your day: Getting Ready, Bridal Portaits, Ceremony, Family Portraits, The Bridal Party Portraits etc. Making the most of your time will really make the day more special and memorable!

xoxo
